For the first Mahiki party this New Years Eve I was able to complete a simple incarnation of an idea I had for party lighting around the same time I thought of the Mahiki concept.
The goal was to create a simple, portable lighting arrangement that can be set up at any party venue as a kind of signature of a Plays Well With party. Trying to complete these in time for the party was a little stressful, but I finished them that morning and they worked out great.

Here is a short video of the lights in action at the party. I wish I'd have gotten some longer, clearer footage, but other aspects of the party kept me busy. You still get the idea.
These are still a work in progress, but a great step in the right direction.
I don't think that I was at this party, but I remember going to quite a few fun parties at the Boom Box while Inciting was using that space. Dan posted this mix on sound cloud the other day and I really enjoyed it.
A new release from Newbie Nerdz out on Lowpitch, You Are My Addiction. I happen to love the track as well as the description provided on the soundcloud page:

"You are my addiction" is this kind of tracks that when you had listen for first time, is recorded in your mind and sounding on and on.. one of this tracks that the girls will don't stop dancing on the dance floor and will come to ask to you the name of it to the dj booth. An authentic vocal tune for the summer ending.
Here's a track from Mexican label, Blaq Records by Haze called Film Noir.
Film Noir really has a nice, restrained vibe to it the first few minutes of the track. Around the 4 minute mark there's a drop that made me really start to enjoy the groove as it is fully realized. The cool, bell-like synth that enters at this point really smooths out the sound quite a bit. It starts to build quite a bit of strength towards the end, making this a great track to wind up into something a bit higher energy. I really enjoy this track a lot and can't wait to test it out.

Recently, Dario Zenker came to Phladelphia to play a party called Foreign Affairs which was thrown in a collaborative effort by my friends at Rizumu, Familiarise and Inciting. It was by far, one of the best DJ sets and best parties I've ever had the privilege to experience.
I was so impressed with Dario's appropriate track selection and impeccable technical skills that I feel it necessary to share one of his recent mixes for those who may not have been there to experience the night.

We would like to proudly introduce to you our Mahiki series of parties. The word Mahiki represents the path that leads to the spirit land, Lua-o-Milu. This series will be an artistic representation of that path and will showcase some of the best techno talent Honolulu has to offer.
